Hello Mr. Prime Minister,
We, the Chinese Freemasons of London, just want to use this opportunity to respond to the House of Commons’ non-binding motion on February 22, 2021, referring to China’s government actions in the Xinjiang Province as a “genocide”.
We adore the concerns and interests on Chinese affairs expressed by our Members of Parliament. However, the use of the term “genocide” is inaccurate and misleading, and the motion risks triggering hatred sentiments against Canadians of Chinese origin.
What has been happening in Xinjiang is nowhere near a genocide and there was no record, by both the government and international NGOs, of massive loss of lives. The word “genocide” as defined by the Oxford Dictionary is “The deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group.”
We call on your office and our government to handle this matter with fair and accurate responses.

我们是加拿大伦敦洪门民治党。 借此机会我们想回应下议院在2021年2月22日提出，将中国政府在新疆省的行动称为“种族灭绝”的不具约束力的动议。
我们赞赏议员们对中国事务的关切。然而，“种族灭绝”一词的使用不准确且具有误导性， 并有可能引发对华裔加拿大人的仇恨情绪。
新疆发生的事情根本不是种族灭绝，政府和国际非政府组织都没有大规模死亡的记录。《牛津词典》对“种族灭绝”一词的定义是：“为了毁灭某个国家或民族，而蓄意杀害来自该特定国家或民族的大量人口。”
我们呼吁总理办公室和我们的政府以公正和准确的回应来处理这个问题。
