As of April 1, 2024, workers across Atlantic Canada are set to receive a boost in their paychecks as minimum wage rates rise in all four provinces, with Newfoundland and Labrador leading the pack with the most significant increase.

In Newfoundland and Labrador, the minimum wage has been increased by 60 cents, bringing the hourly rate to $15.60. This adjustment positions the province as having the highest minimum wage in the Atlantic region. The government of Newfoundland and Labrador has emphasized this increase as part of their commitment to ensuring fair compensation for workers.

New Brunswick follows closely with a 55-cent increase, setting the new minimum wage at $15.30 per hour. This change is part of a series of adjustments aimed at keeping pace with the cost of living and supporting workers in the province.

Prince Edward Island sees a 40-cent rise, with the minimum wage reaching $15.40. Additionally, a further increase is planned for October 1, 2024, which will elevate the rate to $16, marking a significant step towards economic fairness for workers.

Nova Scotia has implemented the smallest increase among the Atlantic provinces, with a 20-cent rise bringing the minimum wage to $15.20 per hour. Despite being the smallest increase, this adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that workers in Nova Scotia are compensated fairly.
