On February 12, 2024, on the occasion of the Chinese Year of the Dragon Spring Festival, which symbolizes reunion and joy, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau hosted a grand Chinese Year of the Dragon Spring Festival reception on Parliament Hill in Ottawa meeting. This event invited several guests, Chinese representatives from all over the country, who celebrated this important traditional festival together. Prime Minister Trudeau, Deputy Prime Minister Christya Freeland,Trade Minister Ng Fengyi, Commerce Minister Champagne and many other ministers and more than 41 members of Congress attended the event.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Prime Minister Trudeau personally presided over the lion eye-dotting ceremony and green picking ceremony. During the eye-dotting ceremony of the Swiss lion, Prime Minister Trudeau used cinnabar to dot the eyes of the Swiss lion, which symbolizes the arrival of good luck and prosperity.
