Richmond Hill's Krasman Centre receives funding from Provincial govt

Krasman Centre, a Social services organization in Richmond Hill received nearly $65,000 in funding from the provincial government. 

Richmond Hill MP Majid Jowhari emphasized the value of support and nurturing in the community for success as he elaborated on the Government of Canada's work to maintain peace.

Jowhari hailed the “Ease of access, empathy, good listening, and being resourceful” of the Krasman Center and hailed the organization as a “jewel.” 

Krasman Center Executive Director Susan Dobson also talked about involving the members of the community which would positively impact the people battling the mental health crisis.

Dobson also elaborated on the work that the Krasman Center provides in the community, especially as a peer-led organization.

She said that the programs in the center are designed in a way that understands that challenges do not usually happen within office hours and Krasman gives 24-hour drop-in services. 

"It can be scary to access and reach out for help," Dobson said while adding that they hear about it. These discussions, Dobson said help in building the program and trust-building among the folks of the community.

“Success for Krasman Center would be to continue that model” of peer-help and led organization, she said as the government moves to support the communities such as in Richmond Hill.
